For me, letterpress printing is about slowing life down and taking the time to create simple, tactile beauty with a care that can be felt. I started printing letterpress in 2003, first in Pasadena, and later as an apprentice in England at the Alembic Press.
My press is cast iron, built in Cleveland, Ohio sometime in the 1890's. I take irrational pride in knowing that if the lights went out and the building crumbled around me, my press would stay intact, and I'd still be able to pedal and print.
